People ask how personality relates to social networking for business. Well, it does. It is the way people perceive you. Even your own coterie of friends perceives you in a different way. In your group, everyone has special traits. You have yours. That’s your personality. If your personality is welcoming, people will want to connect with you. This applies on the social networking sites too.

Here are some ways in which you can build up your personality on social networking sites so that they have a better meaning to your visitors-

-     Make your profile interesting. Put up your picture – a good head shot and not a picture of some celebrity or avatar. Mention a line that states your vision. Mention your business link. Do not hide anything unnecessarily. Even if the profile needs you to mention whether you smoke or not, mention it. Be as open and unambiguous as possible. It helps.

-     Start a group. Send invitations. People who are of the same bent of mind as you are will connect to you.

-     Never spam. Never send your business link to people as if the Internet is coming to an end tomorrow. Be subtle about your promotion.

-     Also, spruce up the personality of your website. Remember that the main impression about your personality will be through your website which people will inadvertently visit if you have mentioned it in your profile.

That’s an interesting post, I really think that social platformsnetworking type of websites are going to be taking a huge progression in 2010. I really think that we are only in the starting stages of social networking and we can see that with applications like Foursqure, it’s only a matter of time until all things are working together at an even better level. I’m can’t wait and am excited for this year, it’s gonna be a big year in social networking. What are your thoughts?
